The initials „P.S." have long become a trade mark in the international show jumping sport. These stand for Paul Schockemöhle who himself has been very successful in show jumping and who has managed numerous successful riders and also horses.
Paul Schockemöhle has achieved the masterpiece to win the European Championships in show jumping three times in succession - 1981, '83 and '85 - with the legendary Deister. A unique achievement that has not been topped until now and that has been confirmed by successes at Olympic Games and Nation Cups. Deister was known all over the country - also by non-horsemen - and got his bread of charity on the meadows of Mühlen together with Franke Sloothaaks Olympic Champion Walzerkönig as well as with Landlord and Flint. Paul Schockemöhle stands for first-class know-how from the basis to the top - he himself started as a groom of his brother Alwin and has worked his way up to the international top. His many years of experience and his success make him to one of the most asked for experts of horse sport.
The "maker of champions"
There are people who are riding successfully, others are trainers with international reputation and others are genius breeders. Paul Schockemöhle combines it all and also much more. As chairman of the Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg International, which was founded in 2001, he is the front man of a successful special association whose foundation he has strongly pushed on. He passes on his knowledge - world class riders such as Ludger Beerbaum, Franke Sloothaak and Dirk Hafemeister trained at his yard to become Olympic Champions. Eddie Macken (IRL), today's German coach Otto Becker, Valerio Sozzi (ITA) or World Cup winner Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (USA/GER) all matured into top-class international riders under his direction. Year after year new riders benefit from his experience and the success proves this concept to be right. The success of the Saudi Arabian Olympic team in Atlanta - which saw two riders into the individual finals - is attributed by insiders to the work of Paul Schockemöhle.
P.S. succeeded as well at the Olympic Games in Athens: All 4 riders of the South Korean Team that he trained were placed under the Top 25 and qualified for the Individual Final! At the Olympics in Hongkong he trained a Chinese, in London the Team of Ukraine, in Rio the japanese Team and for Tokio the Team Japan as well.
In Mühlen professional management and training programmes are planned, arranged and accomplished successfully for riders and teams who have ambitions to participate at international championships.
The stallion owner
Within a very short period of time the stallion station of Paul Schockemöhle has developed to one of the world's most successful and frequented stations at all. As discoverer of Sandro Hit he succeeded in building up a new stallion line with striking successes.
His favourite jumping stallion Chacco Blue – who died far too early – was for a long time No 1 stallion in the World (WBFSH-List). His progenies are found numerous on all major Championships.
According to their age most of the stallions are presented in sport and so breeders can choose regularly among German National Champions, World-Champions (YH) and stallions with successes on international Grand-Prix-level. Greatest value is put on the line of the stallions: Both, the forefathers as well as the foremothers must have proved that they produced sport horses on highest international level.
But not only has the horseman formed riders. Numerous show jumping horses have also come from his yard and caused a furore on the famous show grounds of the world. These include Olympic winner Walzerkönig, The Freak, Dobel's Cento and Orchidee, which was Ludger Beerbaum's European Team Champion in 1998, P.S. Priamos or World Cup Final winners as The Natural, Mc Lain and Sandro Boy. Also the World Champions Mr. T and Gandini Lianos have passed through the talent factory in Mühlen as well as the numerous Grand Prix Winners, that can not be listed here.
At his stud in Lewitz which is wonderfully located in the Mecklenburg countryside Paul Schockemöhle breeds with around 800 strictly selected breeding mares. Only around 15 percent are bred as dressage horses, the main part however is the breeding of performance horses for show jumping. A strategically ideal built stud with an own horse clinic and horse-oriented, healthy rearing on huge meadows offer the basis for the success. At the World Equestrian Games in Tryon as well as at the European Championships in Rotterdam fabulous 10% of the jumping horses competing were born at the Lewitz stud!
The success of some of the most important international horse shows such as the German Jumping- and Dressage-Derby in Hamburg, CDI-W/CSI Neumünster, CSI-W Leipzig, are due to a significant extent to Paul Schockemöhle's know-how and commitment. He also invented the first “Bundeschampionat” (German Federal Championships for Young Horses) that he organized together with his business partner Ulli Kasselmann in Vechta.
His experience from the bottom up make him to one of the most sought-after consultants around the global horse sport.
The proverbial eye for horses - Paul Schockemöhle has got it as only a few others. At his yard in Mühlen or at his Lewitz stud in Neustadt/Glewe every customer will find the suitable horse for his individual demands among approx. 450 horses in training whether they are green and unridden or qualified according to their age for 1,10m-1,40m jumping competitions or even experienced on highest championship-level (1,50m-1,65m).
Besides the management of his competition and sales yard and his stud farm Paul Schockemöhle is the initiator of major auctions. The PSI auction which he organises together with Ullrich Kasselmann attracts customers from all over the world each year in December and offers top-class dressage horses as well as 5yo to 7yo up-and-coming show jumping horses with show results up to 1,40 m classes and with the definite potential for the top international sport.
Several times per year the PS-Online-Auctions take place. They offer foals out of the best blood lines, and 2,5 yo – 3 yo horses from the Lewitz stud that are presented in free jumping. The advantage is the worldwide access to the the treasure chest of the Lewitz-stud, especially for those that want to produce their top sporthorse themselves.
At P.S. the circle is completed: service station, breeding, rearing training, sport, sale, training and management; - Everything from a single source.
