Sire of the Olympic Champion
With the London individual Olympic champion and double World Cup silver medallist Nino of Buissonnet/Steve Guerdat/SUI, the European Championship team bronze medallist Quorida de Treho/Romain Duguet/SUI and the World Cup winner Albführen's Paille/Steve Guerdat, Kannan confirmed his status as an absolute superstar. Without the KWPN stallion, listed among the top ten in the WBFSH ranking of the world's best jumper sires from 2010 to 2017 and in twelfth place in 2018, modern show-jumping sport would be unthinkable. He has produced Quabri de I‘Isle/Pedro Veniss/BRA, Toupie de la Roque/Julien Epaillard/FRA, Symphonie des Biches/Reynald Angot/FRA, Sherkan d’Amaury/Kent Farringon/USA, Molly Malone V/Bertram Allen/IRL, Diva II/Ben Maher/GBR, Paddock du Plessis/Timothee Anciaume/FRA and Oh D’Eole/Gregory Wathelet/BEL. The former P.S.I. horse, A Pikachu de Muze, won the World Championships for young horses (6 y.o.) in 2006 and Bridget was bronze medallist at the Pan-American Games in 2011. Kannan is the dam’s sire of Zinius/Harrie Smolders/NED and Bacardi VDL/Janika Sprunger/SUI amongst others.
There are 16 licensed sons of Kannan registered in Germany, including the Euro 620,000 2016 Westphalian Champion Stallion, Karajan.
As a six-year-old, Kannan won the “Classic Circuit” in Belgium and won the Belgian Championships one year later. Ridden by Michel Hécart, Kannan was part of the French Team that won the Samsung Super League in 2003 and 2004. He was also French Champion in 2005.
With Voltaire, Nimmerdor and Le Mexico, Kannan combines the most important sires of show-jumping breeding in his pedigree. The father Voltaire, himself a son of Furioso II and grandson of Gotthard, was highly successful in sport and won Grand-Prix competitions with Jos Lansink/BEL. He produced the exceptional show-jumping horses Finesse, Play it Again, Altaire, Concorde, Dante, Especiale, Helios, Kahlua, Limmetair and Lexicon and was awarded the titles “keur” and “preferent” in the Netherlands.
His dam Cemeta competed up to high level and also received all the premiums that exist in KWPN breeding: “keur”, “pref” and “prest”. In addition to Kannan, she produced with Gideon (by Flamingo), Interest (by Apollonios xx) and Lady-Meta (by Voltaire) three other top class show-jumping horses.
The grand-dam Wozieta (by Le Mexico) is the full sister of Le Mexico II, Oldenburg licensed stallion.
